"One Day" by Charice Inspires Flashmob for Leukemia Victims

Bravo! This is what we need, young Filipinos like Charice and these UP med students who move and inspire others to help our fellow citizens, especially when what we see right now are political leaders tearing each other down.

So proud of you, Charice!

Between work and not having immediate internet access the past nine days (oh, and getting sick), I just want to say that I am trying to catch up with what's been happening with you, Charice, or better said, catching up with the waves you've been creating lately.

To get quick news, I of course checked out Charicemania and ChariceTVCrew. Wow, it was so good to see you again, Cha, even if only in YouTube :)

You'll always be exciting to watch because your events are never only about one thing, and much less only about projecting and keeping an image. This list of links is more for me and for some others who might be a bit behind too on ChaNews:

Let me just say again that what I find outstanding in all these news is that you always stood out as yourself. Can't express it so well but let me just say that I'm so proud of you because in all these you were you, living your dreams, sharing it out, happy too over other's successes, working so hard (you better get more sleep though, girl), singing live so beautifully, and converting your Chasters into online and real-time detectives to search for a poor talented boy who you want to help reach his own dreams.

As you gain more success, there will naturally also be more critics. But let those who want to mold you according to their stereotyped ideas of what a successful pop artist should look, sound and act be frustrated. I love the way you are, especially the way you hold on to your own values in the way you live your life, share your talents, and even in the way you dress. I found it so refreshing that, when you were asked in your interview with Hollywoodlife who you were wearing, you did not have a ready answer - that told me that you were not overly concerned about what designer clothes you had to be wearing. It showed an attitude of I'll-be-fashionable-but-I-won't-be-a-slave-to-fashion. By the way, you looked adorably gorgeous at the TCA and presented the Acuvue Inspire award so well.

"She's so strong and confident", was one YT comment I read about your appearance at the TCA. I agree. I hope you continue what you're doing: focusing on what's really important - honing and sharing your talents, getting exposure in different media so as to further expand your versatility, learning from the established professionals you collaborate with. Very smart on your part not to waste time and energy competing with other teens in Hollywood's love, beauty, and sexy departments. I say your being true to yourself is in fact what makes your natural beauty and extraordinary talents shine out even more. I love seeing you earn the admiration and respect of your more established colleagues in the industry and how you're gaining more popularity among teens.

So proud of you, Charice, because you are not just playing up to an image to gain a quick moment's stardom. In the world of entertainment which yields such powerful influence especially on young people but which sadly is often built on empty hype, broken images and make-believe lives, I truly believe you are a gift, setting a whole new positive and authentic culture that will inspire millions to make a better world.

Waiting for Charice's "One Day" Music Video

Update:
It's out! Charice first tweeted about it on July 28, pointing to AOL Music then she uploaded it on her official YouTube channel.

10 Things I Like About Charice's One Day Music Video

July 21: Charice had a tweet party about six hours ago and made another mention of the most-awaited One Day MV:
I'm looking for that OneDayMV. It's hiding under my bed. Tsk. Doesn't want to come out yet.

Here's Charice's latest tweet about the One Day music video:
The OneDayMv is just somewhere there hiding... lol
To calm the restlessness of waiting for Charice's music video for "One Day", this Chaster has been visiting and revisiting related news, photos and videos. Now I'm not sure if indeed the effect has been calming or it's just making me more excited to see the "One Day" official music video and watch Charice shine in her dance moves.

"One Day: The Charice Saga (An Autobiography)"

Is Charice's rise to the top taking too long?

There are Chasters who think that way and I think it's because they are convinced her talent makes her deserving to be at the top right now. I too am very convinced that Charice is extraordinarily talented and so hardworking that she not only deserves to be at number 1 but to stay there for the longest time.

Honestly, though, I'm finding her "longer" route more exciting. Instead of having a Justin Bieber-like story (which is also incredible), I find Charice's story having the elements of a saga. She's only 19 but look at these:

Trials:
- childhood years marked by hardship and poverty survived through strong ties shared with her mother and brother
- as a very young teen, losing in a competition on which they had pegged their hopes for a brighter future
- being told she did not have what it takes to be a star
- a mysterious stranger's actions that would alter her life permanently

First success:
- just when she thought everything was lost, suddenly finding herself on centerstage in two of the biggest television shows in the US and astonishing the world
- her privileged one-after-another singing stints with the music industry's greats
- making music history by being the first solo Asian artist to have a debut album land in the Top 10 of Billboard 200
- a highly successful series of solo concerts in Japan, the 2nd largest music industry

Love:
- innocent, young love halted by external factors beyond their control. Will it ever have another chance?
- setting her mind not to get into a relationship...yet
- twist: will it be one of the many faithful Chasters who will ultimately win her heart?

Struggles:
- success that's there yet not quite: not catapulting yet to the very top as hoped for and expected, not quite getting that no. 1 hit song...yet, having to gradually overcome cultural barriers (she's totally Asian in looks, upbringing, culture and ways, and had never lived in the US until a year after she came out on Oprah - making her truly different from her contemporaries)

Intrigue:
- the continuous presence of critics who continue in their disbelief in her talents because they think she doesn't have the "look". Where her critics find limitations, Charice locks on opportunities.
- haters who can't accept her genius while at the same time unable to resist watching her and following her career
- and when these two sets seem to reach a high, a Charice success unexpectedly comes

Destiny:
- a clarity of vision of where she wants to go and her incredible focus and hard work in pursuing it

All these and she's only 19.

Now a new chapter's unfolding in Charice's climb to the top and what makes it even more exciting is that no one knows exactly how the next turn will be - just like no one expected her to suddenly appear in Ellen's and Oprah's shows, wow the world, be mentored by no less than David Foster, and be where she is right now.
